🐬 Today I am advocating for Empty the Tanks Wor 🐬 Today I am advocating for Empty the Tanks Worldwide 2020 on behalf of captive cetaceans. Why should you care? Well, there are many reasons but here is mine: ⁣ ⁣ I was fascinated with marine life as a little girl 🤓 and was so excited when I went on vacation to San Diego where I could visit Sea World (and see real marine life in person!). I went to Sea World's Orca and Dolphin show, where they tried to sell us the idea that these cetaceans "liked to perform" and immediately saw through the lies. 😞⁣ ⁣ Little Laurel made eye contact with one of the dolphins in a tank and started crying because she knew immiediatly they did not deserve to be held captive in a concrete tank. 😢 "How are they able to use their eco location if it just bounces off the walls?" None of the trainer's answers satisfied me. I would rather swim in the vast beautiful ocean than a small pool the rest of my life. Why would they want to be stuck in a tank?⁣ ⁣ My mom tried to console me at the exit of the show as I cried about how the dolphins needed to be in the ocean & free, and families leaving the show stared as they walked by. That was the day I decided that all dolphins and orcas (all marine life really) deserved to swim in a straight line as far as they wanted, instead of being confined in a pool. 🦸‍♀️🦹‍♀️⁣ ⁣ During these times that you feel traped in your home, I urge you to remember this: Your captivity is temporary. Theirs isn't. ⁣ ⁣ Ways you can help:⁣ 🐬 Watch films like Blackfish, The Cove, A Fall From Freedom, & Born to Be Free. ⁣ 🐬 Chose an activity that does not include any swim with dolphin facilities. If you refuse to buy tickets to dolphin shows, they will ultimatly close when the profit is no longer there.⁣ 🐬 Attend educational events outside of marine parks like SeaWorld. Do not visit any marine park or aquarium that houses captive cetaceans. ⁣ 🐬 TAKE THE PLEDGE not to support dolphin captivity!⁣ 🐬 Make a $5 donation to support the Bali Dolphin Sanctuary.⁣ ⁣ Thank you for listening! 🌍 Earth Day 2020! I don’t think any of us ant 🌍 Earth Day 2020! I don’t think any of us anticipated that we would have an earth day like today with less pollution in the air. Apparently you can see the blue sky in India. I can see the mountains here in SLC. It’s pretty amazing. ⁣ ⁣ 📷 This photo was taken pre-rona, back when we were able to ski and travel. I keep going back and forth on all the “more time for you!” and “I didn’t do anything” posts we keep seeing. But I did read a post by Marian Brehmer that was pretty cool. Here’s some of it:⁣ ⁣ 1. We are all connected. 
5. The crisis makes us see what is really essential. 
6. The pandemic can bring out our deepest impulses of love and compassion. 
7. Corona is a much-needed reset for Mother Nature. 
9. Corona teaches us to live grateful lives. 
12. Corona makes us face our fears. 
14. Do we really want to go back to normal? 
15. Corona shows that rapid change is possible. 
16. Let’s hold the vision of what can come after this.⁣ ⁣ 🤓 In my opinion, I’d like to see clean air, clean water, and healthy soil. I’d also like to empty the tanks. 🐬 ⁣ ⁣ Happy Earth Day. ⁣ ⁣ #EarthDay2020 #covid2019 #socialdistancing2020 #emptythetanks
🌷Life goes by pretty quickly sometimes, as it’s already April! April is quite different this year, as I’m bummed about the world staying at home because of covid-19, but know that we will be able to enjoy hanging out in groups again. ⁣ ⁣ 👩‍💻 Pre-Rona, I would be setting up for a wedding today. We were planning her reception for almost a year now, and rescheduling her day was the hardest phone call I had to make this year. ⁣ ⁣ Now that we are adjusting to life as a Sunday in Utah (everything is closed), some people are doing things they’ve always wanted. 👏 As for me...⁣ ⁣ What I wanted to do: Read all the books I currently have on my shelf. 🤓⁣ What I actually did: Binged several seasons of the mysterious universe podcast 👽(not complaining, I am really enjoying listening to their stories about weird things and living that plus subscriber life 🤪). ⁣ ⁣ Anyways, I hope you stay safe and healthy out there. ⁣💖 ⁣ #stayhome #socialdistancing2020 #dreamingoftravel #travelforlife

The OG Winged Victory of Samothrace is at the Lourve in Paris, but this one in Las Vegas is a fun reminder of how talented people can be.⁣ ⁣ 🎨 I like to support the arts by showing up to local galleries and seeing traveling exhibitions. Many agencies will only support the arts if people show up. One of the most unexpected hikes ever was in Wales One of the most unexpected hikes ever was in Wales. We went to see a waterfall, and we were able to see said waterfall, but if you kept going you come upon Cwmorthin Lake, where you’ll find the largest and deepest slate mine in the world. 🤯 ⁣ ⁣ Slate everywhere. Let’s go:⁣ ⁣ I am so happy and grateful that I was able to travel to Wales this year and visit family. Have you ever gone somewhere and everything fits perfectly?
